UPDATE: At the request of some rather important people, the meeting was postponed to the next day, friday the 26th.

It’s summer. It’s hot (well, not so much actually, but it fits better with the theme this way). It’s quiet. It’s definitely time for another go at the singularity and all things related.

This time around we’re going to come together over gin and tonics (at Peter’s) and try to get our heads around the subject of ethics as applied to artificial intelligence, robots, trans-humans and so on. This is the first time we convene around a set topic and although we know the conversation will start there, there’s no telling where it might end.

So if you’re in Lisbon and you want to philosophize a bit about technology, the future and the singularity, do pop over from 18h00 onwards. There’s always room for a few more, and your ideas will never, ever be too crazy for us.

Once again the lobsters, singularitarians, tech-heads, geeks (and the just plain curious) are summoned to discuss, basically, the meaning of 42.

Come meet us after work on Thursday, May 12th, at Hennessy’s for a few beers, chips and light-hearted discussions about our collective future, the way we’ll get there, and how in the post-scarcity future there will be no need for financial bail outs.

In keeping with our ongoing attempts at tackling the issues that are a-coming with the singularity (which is about to unleash any day now, you just wait and see), we are going to convene again this coming Saturday.

Hopefully, this time there will be no genetically evolved virtual car distractions and we will nail the whole trans-human bit down once and for all.

Failing that, there will be beer.

Besides general discussions about the present and future of humanity, we’re going put the final touches on our Turing test contest (open to worldwide participants).

We’re going to have the 8th edition of oneoverzero on Wednesday, December 16th, from 18h onwards, at Mar Adentro (Rua do Alecrim, 35 – Lisbon, Portugal), which has free wi-fi, electrical sockets, and a good selection of beverages and light dishes.  Everyone is welcome! Besides general discussions about the present and future of humanity, we’re going to work finalizing a new form of the Turing test and creating a contest with it (open to worldwide participants).

We’re going to have the 7th edition of oneoverzero on Thursday, November 12th, from 18h onwards, at Mar Adentro (Rua do Alecrim, 35 – Lisbon, Portugal), which has free wi-fi, electrical sockets, and a good selection of beverages and light dishes.  Everyone is welcome! Besides general discussions about the present and future of humanity, the current discussions are the adaptation of the famous Turing test to the modern online social age, and the development of our own little secret project codenamed “exocortex”.
