We at OneOverZero will welcome Robots, as equals [ → ]

Back in January a significant percentage of IEET‘s readers said they’d never give robots human rights, because “robots aren’t human”. Which is a fair point, I suppose, if you take the phrasing literally, but I do think that “human rights” was meant as a proxy term for whatever passes for “human” in the future, when robots and other entities have achieved sentience.
We’ve actually thought about this at OneOverZero, but we framed the discussion as pertaining to Individual Entity Rights, not “human rights”. We even got so far as to create a Charter for the Rights of Asylum for Turing capable digital entities. I think it is easy to see where our opinion would lie in this poll.
